Choral Symphony

Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & Heather Harper & Alfreda Hodgson & Robert Tear & Gwynne Howell & Chorus of Royal Northern Sinfonia & London Symphony Chorus & Royal Northern Sinfonia & Richard Hickox

The Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125, commonly known as the Choral Symphony, is a choral symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven, completed in 1824. Musically it blends late Classical orchestral writing with expansive structures and the novel incorporation of vocal soloists and a mixed choir in the final movement, and it is Beethoven's final completed symphony, notable for advancing the expressive and formal scope of large-scale symphonic composition.
