Membra Jesu Nostri

Album by Dieterich Buxtehude & Cantus Cölln & Konrad Junghänel

Membra Jesu Nostri is a cycle of seven sacred cantatas by Dieterich Buxtehude, composed around 1680. Scored for solo voices and continuo, its concise, meditative movements combine chorale-derived motifs and expressive vocal writing characteristic of the North German Baroque, and it represents a mature example of Buxtehude's sacred output within that tradition.
