Symphony no. 2 / Symphony no. 3
Album by Leevi Madetoja & Tampere Filharmonia & Paavo Rautio & Helsingin kaupunginorkesteri & Jorma Panula
Symphony No. 2 and Symphony No. 3 are the second and third symphonies by Finnish composer Leevi Madetoja, composed in 1918 and 1926 respectively. Both works are rooted in the late-Romantic Finnish orchestral tradition, combining lyrical pastoral writing, understated nationalist elements and an evolution toward more concise modernist textures that chart the composer's development between the two symphonies.
