Symphony no. 9
Album by Anton Bruckner & Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra & Manfred Honeck
Symphony No. 9 is the ninth symphony by Austrian composer Anton Bruckner, left unfinished at his death in 1896. The work is rooted in the late-Romantic symphonic tradition, characterised by expansive orchestral textures, dense harmonic language and a monumental approach to structure, and it occupies a central place in Bruckner's output as the culmination of his mature symphonic style and an important milestone in late-19th-century symphonic music.
