Symphony no. 2 in D major, op. 43

Album by Jean Sibelius & Herbert von Karajan & Berliner Philharmoniker

Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 43 is the second symphony by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, completed in 1902. A late-Romantic orchestral work characterised by expansive melodies, rich string and brass textures and dramatic dynamic contrasts, it marks a consolidation of Sibelius's symphonic voice and bridges his national Romantic influences with broader European symphonic traditions.
