Sylvia and Coppélia
Album by Léo Delibes & Boston Symphony Orchestra & Pierre Monteux
Sylvia and Coppélia are two ballets by French composer Léo Delibes, premiered in 1876 and 1870 respectively. Both works showcase Delibes's melodic lyricism and colourful orchestration rooted in Romantic-era ballet tradition, and they occupy a key place in his output for helping to shape the orchestral ballet repertoire in the late 19th century.
