Concierto de Aranjuez
Album by Joaquín Rodrigo & Sharon Isbin & Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne & Lawrence Foster
Concierto de Aranjuez is a concerto for guitar and orchestra by Spanish composer Joaquín Rodrigo, composed in 1939 and first performed in 1940. Musically it pairs a lyrical, guitar-led solo line with orchestral colourings rooted in Spanish folk and flamenco-inflected harmonies, exemplifying a 20th-century neoclassical approach and becoming the work most closely associated with Rodrigo and influential in the international reception of Spanish classical music.
