The Rite of Spring

The Rite of Spring is a ballet and orchestral work by Russian composer Igor Fyodorovich Stravinsky (Игорь Фёдорович Стравинский), which premiered in 1913. The score is characterised by driving irregular rhythms, bold dissonances, large orchestral forces and abrupt accents, marking a pivotal shift towards modernist techniques in Stravinsky's output and in early twentieth-century music.
