The Bells, op. 35

Album by Sergei Vasilievich Rachmaninoff & Kirill Kondrashin & Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra & Moscow State Philharmonic Chorus

The Bells, Op. 35 is a choral symphony by Sergei Rachmaninoff, completed in 1913. Scored for soloists, chorus and large orchestra and setting a Russian version of Edgar Allan Poe's poem, it exemplifies Rachmaninoff's late-Romantic idiom through dense, resonant orchestration, expansive melodies and dramatic choral writing, and serves as a significant large-scale vocal–orchestral work in his output.
