Piano Quartets Opp. 23 & 87
Album by Antonín Dvořák & Rudolf Firkušný & Juilliard String Quartet
Piano Quartets Opp. 23 & 87 is a set of two piano quartets by Czech composer Antonín Dvořák, composed in 1875 and 1889. Rooted in Romantic-era chamber music, the works combine lyrical melodies, folk-influenced rhythms and dense harmonic textures, and they chart Dvořák's progression from his earlier chamber writing to a more mature, nationally inflected style in his later career.
