The Four Seasons and Sinfonias

Album by Antonio Vivaldi & Northwest Chamber Orchestra & Marjorie Kransberg-Talvi & Alun Francis

The Four Seasons and Sinfonias is a collection of violin concertos and instrumental sinfonias by Antonio Vivaldi, published as part of his Opus 8 in 1725. The pieces exemplify Baroque concerto writing through vivid programme-driven gestures, virtuosic solo writing and contrasting ritornello forms, and they occupy an important place in Vivaldi's output for their influence on the development of the solo concerto.
