Symphonies nos. 6 and 7
Album by Sergei Sergeyevich Prokofiev & Radio Filharmonisch Orkest & James Gaffigan
Symphonies Nos. 6 and 7 are orchestral works by Sergei Prokofiev, composed in 1947 and 1952 respectively. Both employ mid-20th-century orchestral language combining driving rhythms, stark harmonies and lyrical passages, and they represent late-career symphonies that reflect a move towards more reflective and sometimes austere sonorities within Prokofiev's body of work.
