The Brandenburg Concertos

Album by Johann Sebastian Bach & The Brandenburg Consort & Roy Goodman

The Brandenburg Concertos are a set of six instrumental concertos by German composer Johann Sebastian Bach, composed in 1721. They exemplify Baroque concerto and concerto groso practice through varied and sometimes unconventional instrument combinations, contrasting groups of soloists with the full ensemble and employing intricate contrapuntal textures, and they mark an important point in Bach's instrumental output and in the development of the Baroque concerto form.
