Les Concerti Grossi op. VI (vol. 1)

Album by George Frideric Handel & Jean‐François Paillard

Les Concerti Grossi op. VI (Vol. 1) is a set of concerti grossi by George Frideric Handel, published in 1739. Composed in the Baroque idiom, the works employ the concerto grosso principle of contrast between a small group of soloists and the full ensemble, featuring ornate string writing, basso continuo and dance-derived movements, and they represent a late-1730s consolidation of Handel's orchestral style and his contribution to the genre's development.
