Genoveva is the only opera by German composer Robert Schumann, completed in 1850. The work employs Romantic-era harmonic language, lyrical vocal writing and rich orchestral textures as Schumann translated his experience in symphonic and song composition to the operatic stage, giving it a distinct place in his output and in mid-19th-century German opera.
