Etudes-Tableaux, op. 33 & op. 39
Album by Sergei Vasilievich Rachmaninoff & Gordon Fergus‐Thompson
Etudes-Tableaux, Op. 33 and Op. 39 are two sets of solo piano études by Sergei Rachmaninoff, composed in 1911 and 1917 respectively. They feature virtuosic, late-Romantic piano writing with dense harmonies, sweeping melodic lines and orchestral textures, and represent a mature phase in Rachmaninoff's output in which he concentrated expressive character pieces into compact, technically demanding studies that form an important part of the solo-piano repertoire.

First released: July 1992
