Cello Concertos

Album by Joseph Haydn & Kim Cook & Antonín Dvořák Collegium Zlín & Peter Lücker

Haydn's Cello Concertos are a set of two concertos composed by the Austrian composer Joseph Haydn, completed around 1765 and 1783. They exemplify Classical-era characteristics such as balanced forms, clear phrase structure, lyrical solo writing for the cello and transparent orchestral accompaniment, and they represent early large-scale concerted works that helped establish the cello's solo repertoire within Haydn's output and in music history.
