Sinfonie Nr. 2 e-moll, Op. 27
Album by Sergei Vasilievich Rachmaninoff & Filharmonie Bohuslava Martinů Zlín & Peter Lücker
Symphony No. 2 in E minor, Op. 27 is the second symphony by Sergei Rachmaninoff, composed between 1906 and 1907 and first performed in 1908. Stylistically it is rooted in the late-Romantic Russian symphonic tradition and is characterised by lush orchestration, expansive melodic writing and extended thematic development across four movements, consolidating Rachmaninoff's position as a major symphonist after the difficulties surrounding his First Symphony.
First released: 1990
