The Symphonies are the four symphonies by German composer Johannes Brahms, completed between 1876 and 1885. They exemplify Brahms's synthesis of Classical forms and Romantic orchestral colour, featuring dense contrapuntal writing, expansive thematic development and varied orchestral textures, and they occupy a central place in his output as his major orchestral works.
