Symphony no. 4
Album by Gustav Mahler & Miah Persson & Budapest Festival Orchestra & Iván Fischer
Symphony No. 4 is the fourth symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1901. The work, scored for a relatively modest orchestra, blends transparent, chamber-like textures with folk-derived rhythms and luminous orchestration before concluding with a soprano setting of a childlike poem, and it occupies a transitional position between Mahler's earlier, more outwardly folkloric symphonies and his later, denser, more introspective works.
