Requiem Æternam
Album by Maurice Duruflé & Robin Milford & The Choir of Somerville College, Oxford & David Crown
Requiem Æternam is a choral composition by French composer Maurice Duruflé, completed in 1947. It uses melodies drawn from Gregorian chant, modal and impressionist harmonies, and a spare choral and organ or orchestral texture; the work follows Duruflé's earlier organ and liturgical pieces and places chant-based language within mid-20th-century French sacred music.
