Symphony 1997: Heaven Earth Mankind is a symphonic album by Chinese composer Tan Dun, released in 1997. The work blends Western orchestral writing with Asian musical elements and extended instrumental and vocal techniques, using evocative timbres, unconventional percussion and spatial effects to explore large-scale spiritual and cultural themes and represents a late-1990s expansion of Tan Dun's engagement with symphonic forms.
