Brandenburgische Konzerte Nos. 1-3
Album by Johann Sebastian Bach & Bath Festival Orchestra & Yehudi Menuhin
Brandenburgische Konzerte Nos. 1-3 are part of the set of six concertos composed by Johann Sebastian Bach and presented to the Margrave of Brandenburg in 1721. These Baroque concertos employ the concerto grosso principle of contrasting solo groups and ensemble, feature varied instrumental colours and intricate counterpoint, and were compiled during Bach's Köthen period as examples of his instrumental writing.
