String Quartet no. 13, D. 804 "Rosamunde" / String Quartet no. 14, D 810 "Der Tod und das Mädchen"
Album by Franz Schubert & Pražák Quartet
Two late string quartets by Austrian composer Franz Schubert were composed in 1824 and 1826. Rooted in Viennese chamber music, they mix song-like melodies and close textures with sudden shifts in mood and more adventurous harmonic language, and they mark a move in Schubert's late work toward greater expressive depth and formal exploration within the quartet medium.
