Symphony no. 7 / Prometheus Overture

Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & Wiener Philharmoniker & Claudio Abbado

Symphony No. 7 and the Overture to The Creatures of Prometheus are orchestral works by Ludwig van Beethoven, composed in 1811–1812 and 1801 respectively. The Seventh is characterised by pronounced rhythmic drive and dance-like movements that exemplify Beethoven's middle-period orchestral writing, while the Prometheus overture reflects his earlier engagement with theatrical ballet music and classical overture forms.
