The Dream of Gerontius is an oratorio by English composer Edward Elgar, composed in 1900. Scored for soloists, chorus and orchestra in a late-Romantic idiom, the work features expansive orchestration and chromatic harmony and stands as an early large-scale composition that helped establish Elgar's reputation and influence in British choral music at the turn of the 20th century.
