Asrael
Album by Josef Suk & Česká filharmonie & Václav Neumann
Asrael is a symphony (Op. 27) by Czech composer Josef Suk, completed in 1906. A late-Romantic orchestral work characterised by dense chromaticism, expansive and sombre orchestration and dramatic contrasts, it was written in response to personal bereavement and marks a shift toward a more intensely expressive phase in Suk's compositional career and in early 20th-century Czech music.
