Symphony No. 13 'Babi Yar' is the thirteenth symphony by Soviet composer Dmitri Shostakovich, composed in 1962. Scored for bass soloist, male chorus and orchestra, the work pairs sombre, declamatory vocal passages with stark, often biting orchestral colour and is a politically resonant statement within Shostakovich's later output that reflects his turn to vocal and choral forces to address social themes.
