Symphonie Nr. 5 e-Moll, op. 64

Symphony No. 5 in E minor, Op. 64 is a symphony by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, completed and first performed in 1888. Rooted in the late Romantic tradition, the work features broad sweeping melodies, rich orchestral colour, recurring thematic motifs that create cyclic unity, and marked contrasts of dynamics and timbre, and it occupies a central place in Tchaikovsky's mature symphonic output as an example of his approach to large-scale orchestral form.
