Má vlast
Album by Bedřich Smetana & Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra & Zdeněk Mácal
Má vlast is a cycle of six symphonic poems by Czech composer Bedřich Smetana, composed between 1874 and 1879 and first performed in full in 1882. The music uses orchestral colour, folk-inspired motifs and programme-driven depictions of Bohemian landscapes and legends, and it occupies a central place in Smetana's late output and in the development of Czech national music.
First released: 24th August 1992
