Double Concerto / Piano Quartet, op. 60
Album by Johannes Brahms & Isaac Stern & Yo‐Yo Ma & Emanuel Ax & Jaime Laredo & Chicago Symphony Orchestra & Claudio Abbado
Double Concerto and the Piano Quartet, Op. 60 are compositions by Johannes Brahms, composed in 1887 and 1875 respectively. The Double Concerto combines Romantic orchestral writing with concentrated, dialogic solo parts for violin and cello characteristic of Brahms's later style, while the Piano Quartet, Op. 60 exemplifies his chamber-music craft through dense textures, rigorous development and dramatic contrasts within his mature output.
