Symphony no. 5
Album by Gustav Mahler & Evgeny Fyodorovich Svetlanov
Symphony No. 5 is the fifth symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1902. The five-movement orchestral work combines late-Romantic harmonic complexity and dramatic contrasts, including a funeral march, a prominent solo trumpet fanfare and expansive climactic writing, and it marks Mahler's shift from his earlier vocal-symphonic experiments towards purely instrumental large-scale symphonies.
