Brahms: Symphony no. 2

Album by Johannes Brahms & Münchner Philharmoniker & Zubin Mehta

Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 73 is the second symphony by the German composer Johannes Brahms, composed in 1877. A work of the Romantic era, it is characterised by pastoral, lyrical themes, warm orchestration and classical formal clarity, and it occupies a place in Brahms's output as a more serene, song-like successor to his stormier, more dramatic compositions.
