Symphonies nos. 4, 5
Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & New York Philharmonic & Leonard Bernstein
Symphonies Nos. 4 and 5 are orchestral works by Ludwig van Beethoven, composed in 1806 and 1808 respectively. The works exemplify Beethoven's transition from Classical forms toward a more dramatic, forward-looking style, with the Fourth characterised by a poised classical balance and the Fifth characterised by a driving four-note rhythmic motif and expansive thematic development that influenced later symphonic practice.
