Symphony no. 6 in E-flat minor, op. 23

Album by Nikolai Yakovlevich Miaskovsky & Symphony Orchestra of Russia & Anima Moscow Chamber Choir & Veronika Dudarova

Symphony No. 6 in E-flat minor, Op. 23 is the sixth symphony by Russian composer Nikolai Myaskovsky, composed in 1923. Firmly rooted in late-Romantic orchestral language, the symphony features brooding, melancholic themes, dense orchestration and contrapuntal textures, and it represents a turn in Myaskovsky's oeuvre towards more introspective, concentrated symphonic writing after his earlier, more expansive works.
First released: 1992
