A Faust Symphony is a symphonic work by Hungarian composer Franz Liszt, completed in 1857. The work is a large-scale Romantic orchestral composition that employs thematic transformation, expanded harmonic language and varied orchestration to depict characters and dramatic episodes from Goethe's Faust, and it represents Liszt's mature exploration of programme forms and his contribution to the development of the symphonic poem.
