Violin Concerto in D, Op. 77 / Double Concerto for Violin and Cello in A minor, Op. 102

Album by Johannes Brahms & Julia Fischer & Daniel Müller‐Schott & Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest & Yakov Kreizberg

This recording comprises two concertos by German composer Johannes Brahms, composed in 1878 and 1887. Both works reflect Brahms's late-Romantic orchestral style, combining expansive orchestral writing with demanding solo parts and, in the later double concerto, a more chamber-like conversational texture between the two solo instruments that situates the pieces within the later phase of his compositional career.
