Scheherazade / Tsar Saltan
Album by Nikolai Andreyevich Rimsky‐Korsakov & Chicago Symphony Orchestra & Daniel Barenboim
Scheherazade and The Tale of Tsar Saltan are orchestral suites by Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, composed in 1888 and 1900 respectively. They exhibit Rimsky-Korsakov's mastery of orchestral colour, modal and folk‑inspired melodies and programme‑driven narrative, and are representative works of his mature style that influenced the Russian orchestral tradition.
