Symphony no. 2 in C minor “Resurrection”
Album by Gustav Mahler & Hans Vonk
Symphony No. 2 in C minor “Resurrection” is the second symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1894 and first performed in 1895. A large-scale late-Romantic orchestral and vocal work, it juxtaposes expansive orchestral textures, choral forces and moments of lyrical intimacy, and occupies a pivotal place in Mahler's output as an early exploration of existential and transcendent themes that influenced subsequent symphonic writing.
