The Soldier's Tale is a theatrical work by Russian composer Igor Stravinsky, written in 1918. Scored for a small chamber ensemble with spoken narration and dance, it combines folk-inflected motifs, ragtime and early jazz elements with concise, rhythmic modernist writing and represents a move in Stravinsky's output toward economical, chamber-scale forces during and after the First World War.
