Messiah (Original Dublin Version of 1742) is the oratorio by George Frideric Handel first performed in Dublin in 1742. It is scored for chorus, soloists, strings, winds and continuo, combining recitative, aria and choral writing typical of Baroque oratorio and reflecting Handel's stylistic synthesis at this point in his career.
