Symphonies Nos. 1, 3
Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & London Classical Players & Sir Roger Norrington
Symphonies Nos. 1 and 3 are orchestral compositions by Ludwig van Beethoven, completed in 1800 and 1804 and first performed in 1800 and 1805 respectively. Musically they chart Beethoven's development from the Classical tradition to a more expansive symphonic language, with No.1 largely following late-18th-century classical forms while No.3 expands movement length, orchestral forces and thematic development, representing a clear transition toward the Romantic era.
