Symphony No. 3 is the third symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1896. A large-scale late-Romantic work notable for its vast orchestral forces, incorporation of vocal elements and wide-ranging tonal and thematic contrasts, it marks a pivotal point in Mahler's output and in the evolution of symphonic writing at the turn of the century.
