Symphonies 1 & 2

Album by Edward Elgar & London Philharmonic Orchestra & Sir Adrian Boult

Symphonies Nos. 1 and 2 are symphonic works by English composer Sir Edward Elgar, composed and premiered in 1908 and 1911 respectively. They are late-Romantic orchestral works characterised by expansive thematic development, lush orchestration and contrasts of mood, and they represent major large-scale statements in Elgar's career that helped shape the trajectory of early 20th-century British symphonic music.
