Music of the Modes: Three Masses by Johannes Ockeghem
Album by Johannes Ockeghem & Capella Alamire & Peter Urquhart
Music of the Modes: Three Masses is a collection of liturgical masses by Franco-Flemish composer Johannes Ockeghem, composed in the 15th century. The works exemplify early Renaissance polyphony, characterised by interweaving contrapuntal lines, modal organisation and a low tessitura, and they are representative of Ockeghem's mature output and of developments in polyphonic mass composition during the period.
