Violin Concertos 1 & 2
Album by Béla Bartók & Zubin Mehta & Berliner Philharmoniker & Midori
Violin Concertos Nos. 1 and 2 are concertos by Hungarian composer Béla Bartók, composed in 1908–09 and 1937–38 respectively. They contrast an early, folk-inflected and late-Romantic-influenced language with a later modernist, rhythmically complex and more dissonant style, and together they chart significant stages in Bartók's development and in the evolution of twentieth-century violin repertoire.
