Album by Camille Saint‐Saëns & Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky & Paul Dukas & Antonín Dvořák & Mily Alexeyevich Balakirev & Charles Ives & Orchestre symphonique de Montréal & Kent Nagano
Danse macabre is a tone poem by French composer Camille Saint-Saëns, composed in 1874. Scored for orchestra with a prominent solo violin part and evocative use of modal melodies, ostinato rhythms and programmatic effects, it blends Romantic-era harmony with macabre subject matter and occupies a place in Saint-Saëns's output as an example of his orchestral colour and interest in programme music.
