Symphony in D
Album by Juan Crisóstomo de Arriaga & Orquestra do Algarve & Álvaro Cassuto
The Symphony in D is a symphony by Spanish composer Juan Crisóstomo de Arriaga, composed in 1824. Rooted in the early Romantic orchestral tradition with Classical forms, it features clear orchestration, lyrical themes and brisk scherzo-like passages, and represents one of the few completed large-scale orchestral works by the young composer, written shortly before his death and illustrating his late Classical–early Romantic musical voice.
