Otello is an opera by Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi, premiered in 1887. Musically it exemplifies Verdi's late style with continuous, through-composed structures, dramatic vocal writing set within rich late-Romantic orchestration and advanced chromatic harmony, and it occupies a central place in his operatic output as a move towards greater psychological realism and orchestral integration.
