Stabat Mater
Album by Antonín Dvořák & Symfonický orchestr hlavního města Prahy FOK & Jiří Bělohlávek
Stabat Mater is a choral-orchestral setting of the medieval Latin Stabat Mater sequence by Czech composer Antonín Dvořák, completed in 1877. The work combines late-Romantic orchestration, expansive choral writing and lyrical solo passages informed by Bohemian melodic elements, and was composed during Dvořák's middle period as he consolidated his approach to large-scale vocal-orchestral forms.
